Webseries for ALS: Audiovisual language applied to the dissemination of health research

Introduction: Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a neurodegenerative disease that affects the nervous system and causes limiting and irreversible motor paralysis. Due to its rare condition and little knowledge of society, it is evident the relevance that the dissemination of this disease has for the promotion of scientific research that can directly reflect on the promotion of health, science and technology in academic spaces and beyond. Faced with the various possibilities of disseminating scientific information, audiovisual language, especially the format of content such as webseries on social networks, presents itself as a favorable option in view of its digital characteristics as an instrument of educommunication. Objective: The present work has the general objective to develop an audiovisual product for digital social media in webseries format about Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. Method: The development of this work was based on the exploratory research of the profiles that comprise the universe of the disease; Contact with institutions and professionals working with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis in various parts of Brazil; Recordings throughout the Brazilian territory to portray the different perspectives and impacts of the disease; decoupage of the interviews; scripting and production of the webseries episodes and, finally, the formulation of the strategic and communicational planning for the media that will host the produced content. Result: The webseries contains eight episodes and portrays the impact of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis on those around it, as well as the reality of research and the reality of the disease during the covid-19 pandemic. Final considerations: It is identified that profiles II and III point to the lack of information and knowledge regarding the disease that directly affects professionals who are unable to take adequate measures for the patient and that the webseries proposes to remedy this gap regarding the parameters of the necessary care for this disease.
