RESUMO:

Several hematological alterations are present in individuals infected with the human immunedeficiency virus (HIV), in these individuals, the incidence of cytopenias seems to increase with the progression of the infection. Among the main alterations stand out the progressive decrease of lymphocytes number in the peripheral blood, mainly of the T helper lymphocyte (CD3+/CD4+) subpopulation, taking these individuals to a cellular immunodeficiency. The objective of this study is to investigate the hematological and immunological alteration in individuals infected with the HIV. They were analyzed samples of peripheral blood of 100 individuals seroreactive for HIV (60 men and 40 women) search to the levels of TCD4 lymphocyte with the several hematological parameters such as the white leucogram, platelet count and hemoglobin determination. The hematological parameters was accomplished by hematological analyzers and the subpopulation of lymphocytes by the flow cytometry after demarcation of the monoclonal antibodies. The results demonstrated that 25% of the cases presented the count of TCD4 lymphocyte ³ 500 / mm3. In 55% of the cases the count of this lymphocytes was between 499 and 200 / mm3, and inferior to 200 / mm3 in 30% of the cases. Correlating the levels of the TCD4 lymphocytes with hematological alterations, it was observed that the lymphopenia was shown more accentuated in the individuals group with number of TCD4 cells smaller than 200 / mm3, corresponding to 18% of the cases. The platelet count was shown inside in most of the cases of the normality limits. The thrombocytopenia however was present in 29% of the cases, from which 20% presented in TCD4 lymphocytes levels inferior to 200 / mm3. The anemia, was observed in 20% of the women and in 50% of the men, correlating more cases with low levels of TCD4 lymphocytes. With these data, we concluded that the values of the count of TCD4 lymphocyte in a certain way were correlated with the hematological alterations, presented in most of the cases cytopenias such as anemia, throbocytopenia and lymphopenia, showing the importance of these exams in the management of individuals infected by HIV.
