With the objective of correcting the historical inequality in the occupation of vacancies in IFES, Law no 12.711/2012 was created. At UFRN, the application of the Quota Law began in 2013, in 2019 a broad discussion began on the part of the Institution, with the purpose of standardizing the heteroidentification procedure complementary to the self-declaration of ethnic-racial quota candidates, which happened in september 2020, as a result, the selection processes carried out from 2021 onwards, which use the reservation of vacancies for black, brown and indigenous candidates, implemented the Heteroidentification Examination Board simultaneously with the registration of approved candidates. The use of ethnic-racial verification happened in a positive way, however, some points need to be developed to improve the process, and UFRN has been working to improve the procedure and mainly to bring information to society on the subject.
