SUMMARY:

Advances in the development of technology, its use and applicability in various scenarios of the health system, enable greater user participation and their support network in the treatment, preventing possible complications of the disease. The use of technology to monitor, promote care and encourage greater adherence to treatment is already a reality, facilitating professional-patient integration. Considering that ineffective communication between the health team and the user (the patient and their family) negatively impacts the treatment, we seek to develop a prototype of a mobile application as a tool to facilitate communication and assist in the self-care juvenile public undergoing treatment  Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). This is a study in the field of technological innovation that will use the Design Science Research (DSR) methodology as a reference, operationalized through four stages: identification of problems and motivation; definition of objectives and a solution; design and development; demonstration. In the first stage, we intend to problematize the investigation by identifying the difficulties in self-care experienced by patients with CKD. In the second stage, we seek to define the purpose and scope of the prototype through a scoping review, in which self-care recommendations will be mapped, in order to better assist the target audience. The third stage will consist in the elaboration of the prototype screens and it is intended to carry out the requirements survey and the definition of the content, layout, language and functionalities. In the fourth and final stage, the initial high-fidelity tests will be developed for prototype corrections. It is intended, therefore, that this technological resource is configured as an additional instrument in the promotion of health, providing the transfer of information, improvement in communication, stimulation of autonomy and social inclusion of young people with CKD.
