SUMMARY:

The study is the result of a Participating Research, carried out within the scope of the Transport Coordination of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, which promoted the integration of strategic government management pertinent to services provided to society, the institutional role of UFRN and the activities developed at the Transport Coordination. Applied multidisciplinary concepts, pertinent to public fleet management, and modernized its processes making them more transparent, incorruptible and efficient. The applied concepts were supported by a communication and leadership strategy capable of promoting the necessary synergy to consolidate organizational changes. In this sense, it achieved expressive results such as the reduction of the costs of the processes, the development of operations in the light of legal precepts, improving the quality and efficiency of services, the availability of the data and information produced, in addition to the quality of life of its operators. Finally, it becomes a reference, as a final product, through the articulation of the interdisciplinary concepts addressed, of a viable proposal for the modernization of public fleet management.
