Abstract: The growing search for a career in public services has increased throughout the years. The issue with this statement is that many people choose this career due to the financial benefits instead of the affective bond related to it. When entering this sector, the individual often makes the choice irreversible, as he or she considers the investment made in study time and preparation, which generates an opportunity cost in the event of a possible exit. Thus, the theme of this study emerges in the field of organizational behavior and has the goal of making a diagnosis to measure the relationship between commitment and entrenchment and the career of technical-administrative servers of the Center for Human Sciences, Literature and Arts (Centro de Ciências Humanas, Letras e Artes) of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. Therefore, to reach the goal of this study, a questionnaire will be applied containing the commitment and entrenchment scales to measure the individual’s bond with the chosen career. The Commitment scale was developed and validated by Carson and Bedeian (1994) and consists of 12 items and three dimensions (identity, resilience, and planning). The Entrenchment measure was developed and validated by Carson, Carson, and Bedeian (1995) and consists of 12 items and three dimensions (investments, limitation of alternatives, and emotional costs). Both scales were translated and adapted to the Brazilian reality. In addition to the scales, the questionnaire will include items for surveying demographic and occupational data. The technical-administrative servers of the Center for Human Sciences, Literature, and Arts will compose the research population. This is a descriptive study, with a quantitative approach. The data will be processed and analyzed using descriptive statistics techniques with the Microsoft Excel and Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software.
