RESUMO:

The organizational structure affects the entire development of an organization, being an important tool to guide and provide resources in relation to improvements in the efficiency and sustainability of organizations. So, a case study based on the characteristics of the organizational structure adopted by the Secretary General of the Undergraduate Courses of the Center of Biosciences of UFRN is presented. In this sector, the coordination of five undergraduate courses was unified, creating a General Secretary of the Undergraduate Courses of the CB. Thus, a study was developed from the point of view of innovation, sustainable development and efficiency, by describing its characteristics, analyzing the adequacy of this structure to the requirements needed for an innovation model, analyzing the efficiency of the processes performed and the advantages and disadvantages of the unified structure. The aim is to identify the impact of the organizational structure on the achievement of results related to efficiency, sustainability and improvement of the quality of services delivered, and to evaluate this structure from the perspective of an organizational innovation process, since organizational innovation refers implementation of new organizational methods, such as changes in service practices, workplace organization, or internal and external relations of the organization, to improve performance. This study will be done through a survey of the existing theory on the subjects included in the study, followed by documentary survey, also will be made a qualitative-quantitative research, through the application of research instruments type questionnaire and focus group.
