RESUMO:

In the practice of the profession, the nursing worker is exposed to many occupational hazards, since the context and the tasks inherent to the work often imply unhealthy and dangerous activities that can cause harm to health and compromise well-being. The role of the nursing team in the hospital context is extremely important and in observing the activities developed in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (UTINEO), it is possible to verify the multiplicity and specificity of the care actions performed by these professionals in the act of caring, as this sector is intended to provide complex care to patients with serious health problems. This study aimed to analyze the work environment of nursing professionals in the neonatal intensive care unit of a university hospital, aiming to discuss the influence of occupational risks on health and well-being. In the descriptive study, documental analysis, semi - structured interviews and questionnaires were used to investigate working conditions, occupational risks and the incidence of musculoskeletal disorders among professionals. From the obtained results, it was verified that the way the work is organized, especially with regard to the overload of tasks, favors the increase of cases of illness due to osteomuscular disorders. The study made it possible to systematize information that will serve as subsidies for proposing measures aimed at improving the work environment, which will positively reflect on the well-being of nursing professionals and, consequently, on the reduction of leave, leave or deviation of function .
