RESUMO:

The Work, constituted as one of the central aspects of adult life, has undergone transformations over the years. These transformations undoubtedly bring with them the evolution necessary to achieve high productivity and quality. But at the same time, it implies certain consequences, especially for workers, such as stress, mental fatigue, depression, irritability, demotivation, poor performance, repetitive stress injury and postural problems. These consequences, especially work-related stress, as well as the diseases that derive from it, are increasingly frequent, notably as a result of the nature and / or working conditions. In a survey carried out in 2016, together with the Health and Safety Information System of the Federal Public Service - SIAPE SAÚDE, which concentrates, among others, the data about the dismissals of the UFRN servers, it was verified that nursing professionals figure as the category with the highest number of people removed for health problems related to mental and behavioral disorders, according to the International Classification of Diseases - ICD 10 (Group F). This data corroborates the numerous researches that point to the progressive increase of cases of illness among such group of workers. This research aims at analyzing working conditions and stress among nursing professionals in one of the university hospitals linked to the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, Hospital Universitário Onofre Lopes - HUOL, in order to discuss to what extent these aspects would be related to the development of psychic disorders and other diseases fueled by the work context. The aim of this study is to map the absence indexes among nursing professionals, to identify their perception of their working conditions, to investigate the stress levels and the main stressors to which they are submitted, and to discuss the aspects of the work context that impact on the health and well-being of these professionals. Throughout the descriptive research to be undertaken, the data will be collected through documentary research and application of structured questionnaires to evaluate working conditions and stress levels. All ethical procedures will be established and obeyed and after collected, the data will be organized and tabulated in a database and analyzed from the statistics of the servers that integrate the nursing teams of the investigated descriptive hospital. It is hoped, with this study, to produce knowledge that supports the proposition of specific actions aimed at the promotion of health and well-being.
