SUMMARY:

Strategic planning is an essential tool for academic management, enabling undergraduate course coordinators to align their actions with institutional guidelines and the legal requirements of higher education. This research stems from the observation that current institutional systems, such as the Integrated System for the Management of Academic Activities (SIGAA), although they compile relevant data, do not provide real-time monitoring mechanisms, which hinders the daily management performed by course coordinators. This study proposes the analysis of strategic planning within undergraduate course coordination, aiming to answer the question of how the implementation of a continuous planning model can improve academic management, indicator monitoring, and the achievement of institutional goals. In this context, the research proposes a strategic planning model applied to course coordination, with the purpose of supporting the continuous monitoring of goals, deadlines, and academic indicators throughout the semester. This is an applied research with a qualitative approach, grounded in regulations such as the National Education Guidelines and Framework Law (LDB) and the Institutional Development Plans (PDI). Additionally, the Triennial Action Plan for Undergraduate Courses (PATCG) is considered an existing academic management instrument, which the study seeks to enhance through strategic methodologies that broaden its applicability and effectiveness. Data collection will be conducted through questionnaires and semi-structured interviews with course coordinators at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). As a final product, a guiding document in report format will be proposed, containing strategic planning guidelines and structures, designed to be easily applicable and adaptable to different institutional contexts. The proposal has the potential to strengthen academic management by promoting greater efficiency and organization in the actions carried out by undergraduate programs.
