SUMMARY:

Transport management in public educational institutions is a strategic component that often, not being a core
activity, does not receive due attention, which can lead to significant inefficiencies. Such neglect should not occur
given the high operational costs and the immeasurable value of the transported human resources. In the case of
the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), the vehicle fleet represents substantial capital of approximately R$ 10 million and has annual operational costs around R$ 13 million. Effective management of this
fleet is, therefore, fundamental to the financial sustainability of the institution. To optimize this management, the
implementation of a Fleet Management System is essential. This project specifically focuses on identifying and
specifying requirements for the development of software that meets the particular needs of UFRN's fleet
management. The methodology involves conducting focus groups with stakeholders to collect essential information for the preparation of a detailed requirements document. Subsequently, new focus groups will be conducted to validate the specified requirements. The conclusion of this project is expected to result in a requirements document that guides the development of software capable of automating processes, integrating data, and offering analytical functionalities, addressing the specific needs of UFRN's Transport Coordination. This will contribute to cost reduction, improved service to the university community, and increased safety and operational efficiency.
