RESUMO:

The research has as its central theme public governance applied in the context of the contract management process. The problematization and focus given to the theme resulted in a research cut whose general objective is to propose interventions to improve the mechanisms of control in the public governance of academic contracts signed between the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte and the Support Foundation. For this, the process mapping, the diagnosis of governance and the identification of the existing control mechanisms will be done. With these elements, there will be subsidies to propose the necessary interventions and improvements. The predominant method is inspired by the action-research approach, in the technical-political modality and is classified as regards nature, applied research; as to the approach to the problem, is characterized as qualitative; objectives, is characterized as exploratory and descriptive; and with regard to technical procedures, it is characterized as a case study. Composes the list of materials and research instruments the use of the Bizagi software and the Canvas frame for mapping and description of the process; a questionnaire adapted from the Court of Auditors of the Union to diagnose the stage of governance; the mapping of risks and the documentary research for the survey of the internal norms of the University. As a result, at the end of the research, it is expected that there will be a proposal to improve the work process that will bring it closer to the principles and good practices of public governance, with control mechanisms focused on the purpose of the process, based on risk management, performance monitoring and value delivery.
