The Brazilian Hospital Services Company -EBSERH- was set up as an alternative legal-institutional proposal in the provision of administrative and medical-hospital services offered by university hospitals of the federal public administration, aiming to solve pressing problems that compromised the quality of care. Since its implementation, it has been progressively observed that the change in the management model established a new institutional dynamic that changed processes, organization and working conditions, as well as socio-professional relations, directly impacting the performance and health of the worker. Considering that extensive working hours, overloading of tasks, exposure to risks and illness are part of the daily routine of the majority of health workers who perform their activities in hospitals, this study seeks to make a diagnosis of the impact of new forms of health work management from the implementation of EBSERH. The case study to be undertaken aims to analyze the relationship between work context and illness in the perspective of the statutory nurses of a public university hospital. The data will be collected through documentary analysis, interviews and use of structured questionnaires, and later interpreted from descriptive statistics and content analysis. It is hoped, with this study, to produce knowledge that will support the proposition of actions aimed at promoting the health and well-being of the servers that integrate the nursing teams of the investigated hospital.
