RESUMO:

The present case study research (YIN, 2010) rings a discussion of all the systematics that moves the Communication Department of the Universidade Federal do Semi-Árido - UFERSA, with the objective of proposing the implementation of an integrated institutional communication politics. Through the obstacles and merits of the reality of the sector, the research resulted in a diagnosis about communication within the University. For this, we made a large bibliographical survey, followed by data collection with the application of 1,316 questionnaires, self-administered through the Google Docs application, together with the academic community. We had as respondents 783 students, 224 teachers and 309 technical-administrative. As a member of the UFERSA Communications Advisory team, in order to minimize the degree of implication with the researcher within the research, we opted for the application of SWOT Analysis and a self-assessment of the members of the Advisory Office. This, based on the concepts of psycho-sociological intervention with the listening of subjects (ARAÚJO, 2012). The theoretical basis is based on authors who work with organizational / institutional public communication, such as Margarida Kunsch, Jorge Duarte, Wilson Bueno, Gaudêncio Torquato, Heloisa Matos, Pierre Zèmor, among others. As a result we get how the university community perceives the work of the communication sector, and how the team self-assesses. Based on the reality identified, through graphs and data analysis, we believe that the present work can contribute not only to an improvement of the institutional communication, but also to awaken in the management of the University an institutional view on the importance of a communication politics which is the main objective of our research.
