SUMMARY:

This text addresses the pedagogical foundations and empirical studies that underpinned the development and evaluation of a planetarium show for children, involving traditional knowledge of artisanal fishermen from Pipa-RN about the sky and the sea in that region. The product adopted an intercultural perspective, which guided the choice of content and sources, aiming to break particularly with the axis of the coloniality of knowledge and, to a certain extent, with the coloniality of Mother Nature and being. The understanding of the central audience for which the product is intended, children aged 6 and 7, draws on contributions from the Sociology of Childhood, viewing children as co-constructors of their insertion into society and culture, and paying particular attention to the structuring axes of childhood culture: interactivity, playfulness, fantasy of reality, and reiteration. The methodology used in producing the show employed steps proposed by Freitas and collaborators in constructing shows for the general public. These steps suggested conducting two studies prior to writing the script, which are described here: one with the target audience, through an activity with a group of children to identify associations with their thinking regarding the general theme; and another with artisanal fishermen from Pipa – through visits to the location and interviews, in order to deepen the central content. The script for the resulting show, "A Journey Through the Seas of Pipa," tells a story involving a special day for a family of fishermen from Pipa, when a child decides to accompany their father and grandfather, the fishermen, out to sea. The storyboard for the show is being finalized, with tests of image projection on the dome, and after a planned rehearsal with invited children to analyze it, the show will be presented at a planetarium holiday event, where a systematic evaluation will be conducted with a group of 15 to 20 children. This evaluation, immediately after the show presentation, will involve the children creating drawings, followed by a discussion using the stimulated recall methodology. It is expected that the show and script will form part of educational materials and moments that promote children's contact with astronomy content, the appreciation of traditional knowledge, as well as the strengthening of contact with the local culture and marine environment, among other important points.
