“SCIENTIFIC LITERACY THROUGH CASE STUDIES OF RECURRENT DENGUE IN THE SCHOOL COMMUNITY”

The study aims to investigate the contribution of a teaching sequence based on real health cases from the school community to the promotion of scientific literacy among elementary school students. The specific objectives include comparing the scientific knowledge of students during the application of the teaching sequence, analyzing the students' ability to apply the acquired knowledge to interpret health information and make more informed decisions in everyday situations. The research will be conducted in a school in the municipal network of Parnamirim with students in the seventh grade of elementary school, and is characterized as a mixed study, combining quantitative and qualitative approaches. Data collection will be done through participant observation, reports prepared by students during the application of the teaching sequence, and questionnaires. The analysis of the collected material will be performed through content analysis techniques. To assess the level of scientific literacy of students, the Scientific Literacy Indicators Framework will be used. The educational product will consist of a manual for teachers, with the teaching sequence developed in this research. The results and final considerations are still under construction.
