SCIENCE WEARS CROPPED TOPS: The science movement from the perspective of women scientists
Women in Science; Science Education; Science Communication.
The participation of women in science has historically been marked by structural challenges that have limited their presence and recognition. Moreover, the lack of female representation in educational materials and scientific dissemination contributes to the perpetuation of an androcentric view of science. The objective of this research is to map the perceptions of female scientists regarding their academic and professional trajectories in the field of Natural Sciences, aiming to broaden the debate on gender equity in scientific research. The study adopts a qualitative approach and is based on narrative interviews conducted with scientists from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) at different levels of academic training and performance. As an educational product, the research proposes the creation of a documentary to be published on the digital platform YouTube, with the aim of increasing the visibility of the interviewed scientists’ trajectories and inspiring young women to pursue scientific careers. Additionally, the documentary has the potential to be used as an educational resource to foster discussions about women in science.
