Evasion. Higher Education. Human Sciences. Public Policy Management.
Management data from the Public Policy Management Course at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte have generated a warning: the large number of students who do not complete the course. It is about university evasion, defined as the abandonment of the course before its completion. This study will deal with the problem of university dropout in the Public Policy Management course from the perspective of students disconnected from the course due to the type of cancellation “course abandonment”, between the years 2009 to 2019, seeking to elucidate the form of entry, factors that influenced the choice of course, reasons for dropping out and the profile of dropouts. It will be used as an online survey questionnaire, from which participants will answer about what made them drop out of the course and what could have prevented it. Then, the data will be analyzed using descriptive statistics, using Excel to treat them. The result will be an institutional diagnostic, which is the ideal means of investigation to have an integral and faithful view of the situation, allowing the identification of the profile of dropout students, as well as the reasons that led them to drop out. Thus, it will be possible to understand the reasons for the high dropout rates and to envision strategies that aim to minimize this problem.
