SUMMARY:

Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT) emerged as a possibility for clinical
treatment in the mid-1960s and presents itself as an established therapeutic strategy in
contemporary times for a variety of conditions, including malignant or non-malignant
onco-hematological conditions. The HSCT process is complex and changes the lives of
the patient and their family members/caregivers as a whole. Therefore, patients
undergoing HSCT, in addition to being classified as chronically ill, have the potential to
develop self-management of their health-disease process. The Patient Expert Program is
a consolidated strategy for providing individuals with tools for the appropriate
management of their health condition, through which they can acquire skills for an
active and leadership role through shared and collaborative management with
professionals related to their condition. of health. To consolidate the program, it is
necessary to train health professionals, especially nurses, as well as expert patient
educators and, for this, it is essential to train nurses. Within the educational universe,
Distance Education (DE) courses emerge as a technological alternative for training
professionals. These strategies, already consolidated as effective, are based on the
principle of free education, however, the need for courses with certifications of their
effectiveness is notable. towards learning. In view of the above, the following research
question is delimited: How effective is an educational technology for the training of
Nurses who work in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation on the Expert Patient
Program? To this end, the general objective is to evaluate the effectiveness of a course
for the training of nurses who work in a Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant service
under the Expert Patient Program. This is an evaluation study, quasi-experimental,
before and after and quantitative in nature, which will seek to evaluate the effectiveness
of the course. Participants will be nurses who work in the Bone Marrow Transplant
sector of a reference hospital in Rio Grande do Norte. Data collection will take place
before and after the course and the Reaction to Distance Learning Instructional
Procedures Scale will be used. The research is in line with the ethical precepts
recommended in Resolution No. 466, of December 12, 2012, of the National Health
Council and its research protocol will be submitted to the Research Ethics Committee of
the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, and The research will only begin after
your approval.
