SUMMARY:

The study contextualized learning assessment in Physical Education as a field historically marked by classificatory practices and gaps in teacher training, highlighting the need to understand how this topic has been addressed in recent academic production. The research aimed to analyze theses and dissertations that discussed learning assessment within continuing education programs in the field of School Physical Education between 2013 and 2024. A Systematic Literature Review was conducted following the PRISMA protocol and using institutional databases linked to graduate programs in Education and Physical Education. The results revealed three main axes: assessment conceptions grounded in formative, diagnostic, and emancipatory perspectives; assessment practices that, despite showing advances, still displayed remnants of traditional models focused on physical performance measurement; and challenges related to the lack of clear criteria, theoretical-methodological fragilities in teacher training, and structural difficulties within schools. The study concluded that, despite conceptual advances and the expansion of debates on assessment in Physical Education, contradictions persist between discourse and practice, reinforcing the need to strengthen continuing teacher education, expand research in the area, and consolidate fair, dialogic, and inclusive assessment practices aligned with a critical and emancipatory educational perspective.
