THE SOCIAL ROLE OF THE BODEGAS IN THE SERTÃO/CITY OF CAICÓ THROUGH SOCIOECONOMIC RELATIONS BETWEEN BODEGUEIROS AND CUSTOMERS OF THE JOÃO XXIII NEIGHBORHOOD IN THE 1980S

The present text approaches the social role of the bodegas in the sertão/city of Caicó through socioeconomic relations between bodegueiros and customers of the João XXIII neighborhood in the 1980s, at the order to understand like this small family business contributed socially in life of residents of the said neighborhood and identify the factors that collaborate in the disappearance of the old bodegas in the municipality of Caicó. The highlighted object involves social, cultural, political and economic aspects in a contemporary perspective, that’s why, we seek in Social History and Material Culture, the necessary fundamental so build the historiography of the bodegas, relating the concept of “contemporary sertões” the periphery of Caicó. Regarding the methodology, we used Oral and Quantitative History in the constitution and treatment of search sources, in an ethnographic, quantitative, qualitative and comparative approach. The main sources are oral, constituted from interviews with bodegueiros and customers from the João XXIII neighborhood. The secondary sources consist in newspaper articles, administrative documents and academic paper.
