THE SERIDOAN LAND: DISCOURSES AND REPRESENTATIONS FROM THE LIFE TRAJECTORY AND POLICY OF DINARTE MARIZ (1954-1958)

This dissertation brings follow-ups of an investigation about the life trajectory and political construction of the Seridoense statesman Dinarte de Medeiros Mariz, aiming to investigate the electoral context, campaigns, parties, alliances and political clashes with regard to the aforementioned character, so we take as temporality the years 1954 - 1958. In this way, we take as a basis of study the relationship between Political History in confluence with Cultural History from René Rémond and Roger Chartier, through the concepts of discourse, representation, politics and sertão, because gives us reflections on the political projections of the Seridó region for Rio Grande do Norte. From the sources researched are the publications of the newspapers Diário de Natal, O Poti and Tribuna do Norte with a date of dissemination in the period exposed above.
