RESUMO:

Magnetic drug targeting has so far being applied to the selective delivery of anti-cancer drugs, aiming at reducing side-effects. We presently report on the preparation of superparamagnetic nanoparticles for the magnetic vectorization of antibiotics. We use a new methodology to synthesize magnetite particles and magnetite particles with amoxicillin, using High energy ball milling. Both systems were characterized by X-ray diffraction (DRX), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), Mossbauer spectroscopy (MS), infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The antibacterial efficiency of the synthesized magnetite/amoxicillin nanoparticles has also been evaluated. Our biological assay with Kocuria rhizophila indicates that the microorganism is quite susceptible to very low concentrations of magnetite/amoxicillin nanoparticles.

And the results showed that although simple, fast and inexpensive, the proposed route of production of both the magnetic vector and the system is efficient for magnetic targeting, and the microbiological assay was effective in eliminating the organism under study.
