Metabolic syndrome (MS) is characterized by the concomitant presence of obesity, dyslipidemia, insulin resistance (IR), hypertension and metabolic disorders. In the literature it is already well documented for trypsin inhibitors, their sacietogenic action and anti-inflammatory activity (reduction of inflammatory cytokines). The study evaluated the effect of proteins with sacietogenic activity present in the seed tamarind on biochemical parameters and inflammatory SM in an experimental model. Proteins were obtained with sacietogenic activity, ITT, and after performed the in vivo tests. The isolated protein showed 83970.58 IU / mg protein predominant molecular mass of approximately 20 kDa. In relation to food intake and weight gain, the control group had increased food intake and weight gain, followed by the standard diet group and ITT. For the biochemical parameters were only statistically significant difference in triglycerides (TG) and very low density lipoprotein (VLDL-C) between the groups. Still, it was seen that animals treated groups and ITT standard diet demonstrated a tendency to reduction of 77% and 142%, respectively, in fasting blood glucose levels compared to the control group. This study provides information for the prevention and treatment of obesity and SM, since the ITT and presents characteristics sacietogenic also had an effect in modulating metabolic disorders.
