RESUMO:

The objective of this study was to evaluate the productive performance of the forage palm of the Mexican Elephant Ear (Opuntia stricta Haw) using the Forth - Gel hydrogel and applied chemical fertilization via leaf. Three treatments were used with 6 replicates arranged in a randomized complete block design. The total area of each plot corresponds to 56.25sqm. The control (T1) was given granulated chemical fertilization via the root system. For treatment 2 (T2) the applied chemical fertilization was through the fluid format applied through the foliar, associated to the use of the agricultural hydrogel. For treatment 3 (T3) the application of the chemical fertilizer was via foliar. The fertilizer was supplied every 60 days. The study was conducted at the UFRN facilities at the Macaíba / RN campus. The planting of the OEM took place in January 2017 and was distributed in 5 double rows, in a system of densification in the simple card format. The spacing adopted was 1.0 x 0.5m x 1.0 between 0.1 cm rows between plants. Sprouting data were collected bimonthly. The harvest was carried out at 12 months in the useful area of 11.25 m² / plot, without the inclusion of the borders. The height of ten plants was randomly selected by area / plot / treatment to evaluate morphometric data for characterization of length (CC), width (LC), thickness (EC) and perimeter (PC), mean number of cladodes / plant and the total weight of cladodes / plot. It was observed that there were significant differences between the treatments in relation to the biomass productivity (green and dry matter) by the Tukey test, where (p <0.05). T2 had the highest yield and T1 had the lowest yield of biomass. There was elevation of PB T1 = ± 8.4%, T2 = ± 9.8% & T3 = ± 10.8%, exceeding the values presented in the literature, as a result of the higher nitrogen supply provided. There was no significant difference between treatments for the morphometric characteristics of (CC), (LC), (EC). It was concluded that the productive yield of T2> T3> T1, although productivity was expected to be higher in all treatments, as they were hampered by soil nutrient deficiency and lack of correction. Associating the use of the agricultural hydrogel with the provision of irrigation water periodically in reduced quantity will result in better productive responses. The efficiency in the fluid fertilization was notorious for T2 & T3, but soil fertility monitoring was necessary, as there were nutritional deficiencies in all treatments for Ca and Mg. There was excess of Na in the soil that influenced the low productive yield causing losses. It is hoped that there will be momentum in productive development, in the second harvest.
