RESUMO:
The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between gender and consumer behavior of organic foods enriched with functional properties and the factors that influence the consumption of these foods. A questionnaire was carried out on the Google Forms platform (docs.google.com/forms/), where 1230 respondents from all Brazilian states were collected through social networks (WhatsApp® and Facebook®) during the months of February and March 2017. The results are presented in the form of two articles. Regarding the ecological and sustainable concept, women showed a statistically significant difference in relation to men. Regarding the main limiting causes of consumption, a statistical difference was observed in the low variety and for inferior quality, in which the men presented a higher degree of agreement. The fact that organic foods are more nutritious was the main reason for consumption, where women excelled. Regarding the acquisition sites, there was a statistical difference in the "natural products stores" option, where women agreed in greater numbers. The most consumed organic foods were apiculture products and organic eggs, where the women presented higher averages and with respect to the functional foods most consumed, there was statistical difference for all variables, except for dairy probiotics, with higher averages for women. In the second article, the results show that there was statistical difference for the variable interest in consuming functional organic foods, where women demonstrated "interested" while men declared "indifference." Individuals aged 31-40 and 51-60 are willing to pay more and consume more often along with the elderly. While under 30 eat less. With respect to the degree of confidence, people who possess up to the fundamental level presented higher averages in relation to the individuals with incomplete secondary education who demonstrated to trust little or indifference. Individuals with a monthly income above $ 3142.68 stood out for their interest in paying more for functional organic cheese than those with incomes below $ 571.95. Regarding the frequency of consumption, there was a statistical difference between the North and South regions, where respondents from the South region showed a higher frequency of consumption, whereas residents of the capitals and interiors had similar behaviors for all variables. In general, women stand out in relation to men in the interest of consuming food with a healthy and nutritious appeal, and young people under the age of 30, widowers and people with incomes above 2000.00 dollars stand out as the most consume residents of Northern Brazil and people with incomes under $ 571.95 are the least likely to consume.
