RESUMO:

ABSTRACT

Brazil since 2015 produce 12 million tons of poultry meat annually, it make Brazil the world's second largest producer and the world's leading exporter, exporting to 155 countries. A significant part of this production is ensured by the use of antibiotic growth promoters (AGPs), which for more than a decade has been banned in major world markets for promoting bacterial resistance and its residual effect, a phenomen associated with the emergence of super-resistant bacteria that cancel the effects of drugs used in human medicine, which constitutes a serious threat to public health. This reality has stimulated the pursuit of AGPs substitutes or strategies in order to maintain the same levels of animal performance afforded by AGPs. The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of the different levels of the wood vinagar as a substitute for the conventional antibiotic (enramacina) as an alternative strategy to the use of antibiotics as growth promoters in poultry production. For this purpose, 504 one-day-old Cobb 500 lineage broilers distributed in a completely randomized design were used in seven treatments (0; 0.5; 1.0; 1.5; 2.0; 2.5% wood vinagar and 115 ppm enramicina), with six replicates and 12 birds per plot. The following variables were evaluated: weight gain (g), body weight (g), feed intake (g) and feed conversion in the stages of 1-7; 8-21 and 22-42 days of age (P <0.05). The birds were slaughtered at 21 and 42 days of age to evaluate the carcass weight, breast, overcoat, thigh, liver weight and lipid deposition in the liver (P <0.05). The effects of wood vinagar levels were estimated using linear and quadratic regression models. In the present study the level of the wood vinagar of 0.5% provided the best feed conversion consequently better performance in the pre-initial phase. Wood vinagar had no negative effect on the liver in any treatment.
