SUMMARY:

This research presents a technical-interpretative analysis of the work Sete Poemas for solo piano by the brazilian composer Rodrigo Lima. This work seeks to highlight the author's interpretative process in preparing her first master's recital, identifying the performance elements employed and primarily discussing its didactic potential in the training of a pianist. The research focused on identifying four general aspects present in this work, which were: 1) use of body and gesture; 2) timbre and rhythm; 3) specificities of musical notation; and 4) intertextual elements. This work contributed to a better understanding of the work, primarily developing active listening and facilitating the understanding of concepts such as gesture, the timbral potential of the piano, variety of rhythms, other forms of musical notation, and the relationship of music with other forms of artistic expression through intertextuality. Given the intended performative demands of this set of seven poems, the focus on technical-interpretative development brought new possibilities and reflections regarding creative musical practice in the process of constructing contemporary music performance.
