Performatic Approach To The Works Colorido, Sapos, Suite Do Rio Grande Do Norte, Maracatchatchu And Sapeca By Composer Gilberto Cabral
Performance. Popular music in Brazilian. Trombone in popular music. Listing of works.
This research started from a survey of works by the composer Gilberto Cabral and aims to propose study strategies for the acquisition of technical skills based on existing trombone methods, which enable a better performance by the trombonist in the pieces: Colored (suite) , Toads, Maracatatchu, Sapeca and Rio Grande do Norte Suite. Aspects related to popular manifestations in Rio Grande do Norte were presented through the works, and to discuss them, we used several authors as theoretical references, including Cascudo (1984) and Costa (2011). Observing the studies studied, we came to the conclusion that they present significant challenges in relation to the instrument's technique and its interpretation. We also evidence that the language used by the composer needs further study as it is based on genres and rhythms of popular manifestations. We hope that this study can support the performer who wishes to interpret the work of the aforementioned composer, in addition to contributing to the consolidation of research on the trombone in our country.
