SUMMARY:

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of protein supplementation on the carcass traits of crossbred Santa Inês x Dorper lambs raised on pasture. Eighteen weaned lambs were used, distributed in a completely randomized design with three treatments (15%, 20%, and 25% crude protein in the concentrate) and six replications. The animals were slaughtered after ninety days of the experiment, and carcass and non-carcass components were evaluated using the statistical software SISVAR 5.6 at a 5% significance level.

No significant differences (P > 0.05) were found among the treatment groups for parameters such as final body weight, body condition score, total muscle, total bone, total fat, loin eye area, commercial cuts, and non-carcass components. Protein levels in the diet did not influence the quantitative carcass traits, with 15% protein supplementation being sufficient.
