SUMMARY:

Introduction: The increase in chronic diseases represents a significant
challenge for healthcare systems worldwide, requiring innovative and effective
approaches for the continuous management and self-care of patients. In this
context, the use of mobile applications has emerged as a promising tool to
improve the quality of life and health of chronic patients. Objective: To
construct, implement, and evaluate a mobile application for self-care
management of patients with chronic diseases. Methodological procedures:
This is a methodological study, with a mixed approach, for the development and
evaluation of technologies. The study will be developed with patients with
chronic diseases, users of the Directorate of Quality of Life, Health, and
Occupational Safety (DAS), of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte
(UFRN). The mobile application will be developed using Systematic
Instructional Design (SID), in five steps: analysis, planning, development,
implementation, and evaluation. Initially, the analysis step will be carried out
with the aid of two systematic reviews on "Ineffective health maintenance
behaviors in people with chronic conditions" and an analysis of the concept of
"Digital health literacy in patients with chronic diseases." The planning will
consist of meetings with the team to discuss aspects related to the content and
usability of the application, following the information collected in the analysis
step. The development of the application will be carried out in partnership with
the Metropolitan Digital Institute. Finally, implementation and evaluation, with
validation of content and usability, will take place with specialists and at DAS,
with users. The study will comply with Resolution 466/12 of the National Health
Council, starting after approval by the Ethics and Research Committee of
UFRN. Expected results: It is expected that the application will contribute
significantly to clinical practice and research, improving self-care management
and providing valuable insights into the use of mobile technologies in the care of
chronic patients.
