This study addresses organizational information management in the process of rotating inventories of physical collections. Considering this type of collection as one of the essential inputs for carrying out activities and providing services in libraries, the research aims to analyze the informational barriers faced by managers of units and sectors integrated into the Library System (SISBI) of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) in the execution of inventories of physical collections. In light of the above, to achieve this objective, the following specific objectives were defined: (1) To present the main institutional guidelines and automated resources implemented for carrying out rotating inventories of collections; (2) To describe the inventory process in the physical collection of one of the libraries of the aforementioned system; (3) To understand the informational needs of these managers in order to propose solutions; (4) To develop a practical guide containing guiding procedures on the process of rotating inventories in the physical collection of SISBI/UFRN. The research will adopt a mixed methodological approach (qualitative and quantitative), which will be developed from a case study (monographic method), making use of documentary research, participant observation, and the application of questionnaires. Regarding data analysis, it will be carried out using simple descriptive statistics supported by content analysis according to Bardin (2011). The proposed practical guide will result in significant improvements in collection management, the informational flow of the process, and institutional communication, making it possible to overcome the obstacles and impediments related to carrying out the activity under analysis.
