Journal of the Instituto Histórico e Geográfico do Rio Grande do Norte; Organizational memory; Institutional memory; Catalog.
This research, situated within the field of Information Science, investigates the institutional documents published in the Journal of the Historical and Geographical Institute of Rio Grande do Norte as a source for the constitution and retrieval of the Institute's organizational and institutional memory, as well as for supporting the decision-making process of its Board of Directors. It starts from the understanding that memory, as a social and institutional phenomenon, becomes accessible and operationalizable through documentary records and systematic practices of identification, organization, and information retrieval. The study aims to analyze the institutional documents published in the Journal, with a view to their identification and the production of a catalog that systematizes these records. Methodologically, it is characterized as applied research, predominantly qualitative in nature, with descriptive quantitative procedures derived from the catalog. Regarding procedures, it uses documentary research as the main method, with the Journal as the primary source of the corpus, complemented by bibliographic research. The expected outcome is to provide a technical tool for information retrieval capable of supporting the preservation of organizational and institutional memory, as well as informing administrative decisions through traceable documentary inputs.
