SUMMARY:

This study investigates the informational barriers that hinder undergraduate students’ access to and use of health services provided by the teaching clinics of the Health Sciences Center at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (CCS/UFRN). It is based on the assumption that the lack of clear, centralized, and accessible information compromises students’ awareness and appropriation of these services, thereby affecting their well-being, academic retention, and performance. The main objective is to develop an informational catalog of the health services available in the teaching clinics in order to help overcome the identified informational barriers. Specifically, the study seeks to map the services offered, analyze students’ perceptions regarding the effectiveness of institutional communication, and identify personal, interpersonal, organizational, and environmental obstacles, grounded in Wilson’s Model of Barriers to Information Access. Methodologically, this is an applied study with a predominantly quantitative approach, complemented by qualitative elements, and characterized as exploratory and descriptive. The population comprises 5,519 undergraduate students enrolled at CCS/UFRN, from which a minimum stratified probabilistic sample of 360 participants will be selected. Data collection includes documentary analysis of reports, manuals, and institutional materials from the teaching clinics, as well as the application of a structured questionnaire. Data will be organized and analyzed using descriptive statistics and informational flow modeling, enabling the identification of informational behavior patterns and critical points in service access processes. As a technical product, a digital informational catalog will be developed, systematized in accessible language and containing standardized information about services, access procedures, contacts, and schedules, aiming to increase institutional visibility and facilitate student use. The results are expected to contribute to the improvement of organizational communication, the reduction of informational barriers, and the strengthening of information management practices in academic health contexts, promoting greater equity in access to services.
