Knowledge management is a strategic process aimed at strengthening the organizational capacity to produce, share, and apply knowledge, contributing to improved institutional performance and the construction of sustainable competitive advantages. In the public sector, its adoption is particularly relevant as it favors the efficiency of services and the consolidation of an organizational culture oriented towards the sharing and valorization of knowledge. In this context, public higher education institutions, whose mission involves the production and dissemination of knowledge, have a high potential for improving their university management through the adoption of systematized knowledge management practices. Given this scenario, this research aims to propose strategic guidelines for raising the maturity level of knowledge management at the Faculty of Health Sciences of Trairi (FACISA). To this end, it seeks to measure the current stage of maturity of knowledge management in the institution, identify critical factors, strengths, and weaknesses that influence its institutionalization, as well as assess organizational readiness regarding the resources, processes, and conditions necessary for its sustainability. This is an applied research study with exploratory and descriptive objectives, adopting a mixed methodological approach, integrating quantitative and qualitative methods. The study uses the deductive method and the case study procedure, employing bibliographic research, questionnaires, and focus groups as data collection techniques, based on the intelligence audit method proposed by Carvalho (2022). The data will be analyzed using descriptive statistics and content analysis. The expected results include the proposition of strategic guidelines structured in axes, actions, and monitoring indicators, capable of supporting the institutionalization of knowledge management and the monitoring of its evolution at FACISA. Additionally, it is expected that the resulting instrument will highlight the level of institutional maturity, critical factors, weaknesses, and organizational readiness, as well as support the performance of managers and administrative staff and allow its adaptation by other public higher education institutions, expanding the practical relevance of the study.
