SUMMARY:

Population aging and the growing presence of institutions on social media bring to light how older adults access, understand, and engage with scientific content in these environments. This dissertation aimed to suggest the Appreciative Inquiry of Action-in-Action Method as a strategic consulting model for engaging older adults with scientific content at the Instituto do Envelhecer/UFRN. The research is justified by the need to recognize this audience as active interlocutors, to identify barriers to comprehension and navigation, and to transform perceptions into applicable institutional communication guidelines. The study is grounded in the fields of scientific communication and information mediation, articulated with the Appreciative Inquiry of Action-in-Action. A qualitative approach was adopted in three complementary phases: diagnosis and sensitive listening to participating older adults through a questionnaire with open-ended questions, development of an Organizational Consulting Guide based on the collected narratives and on the appreciative stages of Discovery, Dream, Design, and Destiny, and creation of support tools for the practical application of the method by the team. Data analysis was conducted through meaning analysis, associated with the principles of the Appreciative Inquiry of Action-in-Action, which enabled an understanding of frequent difficulties and recognition of the conditions that favor participation. The results showed a willingness to interact when the digital environment provides clarity, predictability, and recognition of the older audience, and they indicated paths for adjusting content, format, and publication routines. As a technical product, an Organizational Consulting Guide was delivered, containing operational guidelines and accompanied by support tools that detail procedures and materials for daily use. Together, these elements contribute to enhancing institutional scientific communication, expanding the engagement of older adults, and strengthening a culture of inclusive and collaborative communication.
