environment, that is, how the housing situation to which the student is subjected can interfere with his/her academic performance or level of education. Therefore, this research is based on an intersectoral approach, addressing the housing situation linked to another area of society, in this case, education. To this end, this research sought to study the behavior of public social housing policies, from the national to the municipal sphere, paying specific attention to the city of Caicó-RN, the study area of this research. However, this approach considers its repercussions on the education of the city's population, establishing a parallel between the behavior of public social housing policies and the educational framework of the population that is affected by the problem of access to quality housing. Thus, the research initially studies the space-time trajectory of the housing problem in Brazil, highlighting the State's participation in the problem, as well as the way it thinks and understands, but also acts on the housing problem. Next, we sought to investigate whether an intersectoral perspective is adopted during the development and implementation of public policies in Brazil, with the aim of understanding what contributions this way of thinking about and managing State actions brings to society, but also the impacts that failure to use the intersectoral approach can generate in order to weaken public social housing policies. Finally, it seeks to investigate the relationship between two target areas of public policies in Brazil, Housing and Education, with the aim of investigating how an individual's housing situation affects their academic performance or level of education.
