UNDERSTANDING THE URBAN DYNAMICS IN THE SMALL CITIES OF THE SEMIARID POTIGUAR: THE FREE FAIR OF CRUZETA-RN
Free Fair; Globalized economy; Territory; Cruzeta
Free fairs, materialized in space as commercial forms of a socioeconomic and cultural nature, are an important source of income for small family farmers and local artisans and have, over the years, undergone a series of changes due to the advancement of the economy, increasingly globalized. This is the case of the street market in the city of Cruzeta, located in the intermediate region of Caicó, one of the three major geographic regions of Rio Grande do Norte. In this way, the research that follows, presents as main objective to understand the importance of the free fair of Cruzeta-RN. Therefore, the methodology adopted for carrying out this work is being developed from exploratory and descriptive research, carried out through a bibliographical review, as a fundamental part of a necessary theoretical basis for the discussions contained in this research. Finally, the fairs are “an urban territory in/of the urban” and each one of them has its own peculiarities, but all the fairs, like the one in Cruzeta, are manifestations that move the city economically and bring culture and sociability to the place.
