Internalization; Public policy; Semiarid.
This work seeks a preliminary discussion related to the current process of interiorization of tourism in the semiarid region of Rio Grande do Norte, focusing on the emergence of new types of tourism segments such as ecotourism, events and business tourism, rural tourism and tourism and adventures. The internalization of tourism appears as an economic alternative for places. In this sense, our dissertation now under construction analyzes the economic, social and cultural dynamics that currently produce in the State new territories and tourist goods that are based on the natural, cultural and social characteristics of the semi-arid Potiguar region and which criteria of public policies for the enhancement of tourism in the interior. Our spatial cutout is Polo Serrano, specifically the municipalities of Luís Gomes, Martins and Portalegre, in which we understand that the constructions of new tourist products are part of contemporary capitalist reproduction implementations, providing possibilities and alternatives in generating employment and income for the local growth. Therefore, it is questioned how the process of interiorization of tourism in Rio Grande do Norte takes place. However, we provisionally perceive a revealing dynamic of construction of new tourist territories, which urgently needs a discussion of internalizing tourism based on actions, programs and public policies in relation to the natural and social environment of the semiarid region and its local communities.
