SUMMARY:

This research aims to analyze the journey through the Sertões made by the poet and singer Cícero Manoel do Nascimento, his experiences and paths taken through popular poetry that spanned generations. We start from the interaction between the artist, a viola professional who develops the art of singing in various spaces in the northeastern hinterland. In this sense, the problem to be addressed is the relationship between the viola singer and his audience, who will become spectators during the viola singers' performances. In this way, understanding the difficulties, obstacles and the path he took allows us to identify, during his life, how several generations transformed themselves into a backcountry region marked by the strength of the working man. Furthermore, it is possible to discover the identity of a people who have strong cultural traits in the backlands.
