SUMMARY:

This study analyzes the relationship between the efficiency of public spending on basic education in the municipalities of the State of Pará and socio-economic factors.Planning plays a crucial role in the distribution of public resources by the government, providing greater efficiency in the response to the allocation of financial and economic resources to meet the needs of societal. Therefore, discussions and research on the efficiency of public spending are essential, as improvements in the quality of public investments lead to greater efficiency in such expenditures. However, addressing this issue is challenging, as it directly impacts the economy and the well-being of citizens. In the educational context, multiple variables influence the efficiency of investments, such as regional disparities, infrastructure, and teacher training, making the research even more complex. The research aims to identify the relationship between the efficiency of public spending on education and socio-economic variables. To achieve this, the study analyzed documentary and quantitative data collected from secondary sources available in documents and reports from the official websites of public institutions and federal, state, and municipal governments. The study set out to investigate the efficiency of education spending and how socio-economic factors may influence the efficiency index of the 144 municipalities in Pará.
