ASSESSMENT OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS IN THE SURROUNDINGS OF THE MINISTER JOÃO ALVES RESERVOIR (BOQUEIRÃO) - PAREHAS/RN
Ecosystem services; reservoirs; semiarid; environmental impacts;
Water reservoirs are great allies for a good coexistence with the semi-arid region, they offer several ecosystem services that are important for people's quality of life. The classification of ecosystem services provided by reservoirs is important so that, in addition to knowing what services are offered, it is possible to contribute to sustainable management and management, minimizing the impacts caused by human interference. The objective of this work is to identify which ecosystem services are provided by the Ministro João Alves dam (Boqueirão) inserted in the Florêncio Luciano state park (Parelhas/RN) and how these services are being impacted. For this, the methodological procedures were: bibliographic survey, field control listing, classification of services through CICES (v. 5.1), and application of the DPSIR method in search of solving the problem in question. To carry out the zoning of the area, it will be necessary to map the geoenvironmental units, which aims to locate the capacity that the different landscapes of the study area have in providing ecosystem services. In order to investigate the potential of each service, this will be possible through the geographic information system (GIS) and with the help of the Qgis software that will help in the construction of the entire mapping. The results obtained so far point to the occurrence of new services (even if only in certain periods of the year), and, in addition, the impacts that these services suffer, as well as responses and mitigating actions for such problems, were identified. Social, accelerated and demographic demands caused various pressures on natural resources that would have different stimuli in the natural environment, with the energy of water bodies, deforestation and the commitment to human and animal supply being the most visible. As a way of mitigating these damages, it is important to adopt public policies aimed at coexistence with the semi-arid region, together with an integrated management applied to the reservoir. It is also worth noting the need for inspections, monitoring of water quality and projects aimed at maintaining and restoring the study area and reversal.
