SUSTAINABILITY THEME IN THE AREA OF FISHING RESOURCES
Environmental Crisis; Artisanal fishermen, fishery resources; Environmental sustainability.
Faced with the environmental crisis that has been spreading over the years and currently affecting the planet, as a consequence of anthropic activities, exacerbated consumerism and of the economic growth model, the objective was to evaluate the relationship between man-environment and the environmental crisis, seeking identify environmental conservation practices in the northeast region. To this end, a literature review research was carried out about the northeastern artisanal fishing communities, as well as a semi-structured interview through a questionnaire with students from the Fishery Resources Technician course of the Federal Institute of Rio Grande do Norte (IFRN) - Campus Macau, in view of the economic importance of the region due to its natural resources, specifically fisheries. Thus it can be seen that the fishing activities carried out by artisanal fishing have contributed to more sustainable measures of exploitation, not interfering too much in the cycle of fishing resources. It is partially concluded that the activities of artisanal fishers societies become important as a sustainable model of how society in general should relate with the nature and its natural resources, maintaining a balance in the human-nature relationship.
