Construction waste: an analysis through sustainability
Waste Construction, Sustainability, Public Policy
In Brazil and abroad, civil construction is recognized as an important activity for economic development, however, it also stands out as a major generator of environmental, social and economic impacts, either due to the large consumption of raw materials and/ or improper disposal of the waste it generates. This research proposes an analysis of the management of waste construction in the city of Natal / RN, identifying the gaps within the perspective of sustainability and environmental laws. To develop this first part of the research, a bibliographic and documentary revision were made, cataloging the municipal laws and institutional documents related to the construction waste. As a partial result, we can see the insufficiency of norms and laws that regulate the management of construction waste in the municipality, as well as the scarcity of current data on this topic. We also emphasize the need for the municipality to align the guidelines regarding construction waste management, guiding the agents involved and seeking solutions that consider the construction waste recycling and encourage the use of recycled aggregate.
