SHRIMP FARMING AND LICENSING IN RN: DIAGNOSIS AND PERCEPTION

Shrimp farming is the aquaculture activity more expanded worldwide. By becoming established mainly in vulnerable areas, it can cause environmental problems, which emnavyir ognemneernattael eliccoennosmingic bloys sthees tcoo tmhep eetenntet rpbroisdeie, sb. eTinog deisasgennotsiael tthhee rleeqguailrizeamtieonnt ooff developments in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, a documental research was conducted on the types of licenses issued by the Instituto de Desenvolvimento Sustentável e Meio Ambiente (IDEMA) in last ten years (2005-2015), standing out the number of licensed enterprises according to their size and main regions of location. It was identified a predominance of micro and small producers on the eastern coast and medium and large producers in the northern coast. The analysis identified a large quantity of farms with delayed licenses, besides verifying that the reported problems in the area over this time, did not affect the number of licenses issued.
