SUMMARY:

Introduction: Fibromyalgia is a condition characterized by chronic widespread pain, affecting approximately 2% of the Brazilian population, with higher prevalence among women. It is disabling in nature, presenting both physical and psychological symptoms such as pain, fatigue, hypersensitivity, sleep disturbances, and individual burden. Objective: To analyze the impact of fibromyalgia on quality of life in women with fibromyalgia based on psychosocial factors, sleep quality, and physical activity practice. Methods: The study included 82 women with fibromyalgia, aged between 18 and 75 years. Data collection took place between March 2024 and September 2025 at the School Clinic of Physiotherapy at FACISA/UFRN. It consisted of the administration of a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQ), the Chronic Pain Self-Efficacy Scale (CPSS), the Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS), and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), with an average duration of 30 minutes. The data were entered into an electronic spreadsheet and subsequently analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), version 25. Descriptive analysis included measures of central tendency and dispersion for quantitative variables and absolute and relative frequencies for categorical variables. For inferential analysis, multiple linear regression was performed to develop a model to verify which components (self-efficacy, catastrophizing, sleep quality, and physical activity practice) are associated with the impact of fibromyalgia on participants’ quality of life, considering a significance level of 5%. Preliminary Results: The variables showed statistical significance as predictors of the impact on quality of life in women – chronic pain self-efficacy (β: -0.236); pain catastrophizing (β: 0.396); sleep quality (β: 0.181); and physical activity practice (β: -0.273). The multiple linear regression model presented an R² of 0.559, with satisfactory goodness-of-fit measures, indicating absence of multicollinearity. Final Considerations: Understanding the multifactorial influence of the condition on its impact on quality of life may support the development of management strategies that contribute to the care of individuals with fibromyalgia.
