Theory of Self-Determination: A Study with accounting students of the heirs of the state of Rio Grande do Norte
Motivation; Higher education; Theory of self-determination.
Human motivation and its influencing factors constitute one of the fields of study of Psychology. Motivation has its roots derived from four different strands: behaviorist, cognitivist. Humanistic and psychoanalytic. Allowing to be influenced by more than one movement (PENNA, 2001). In this sense, the research project aims to analyze the association between the variables of characterization of the students and the dimensions of academic motivation of students of Accounting Sciences in light of the theory of self-determination. This study is justified because it places a magnifying glass on the problem of motivation studies, when conducting research with students from public and private higher education institutions, as well as the possibility of improving the course and the methods applied in the training professional future. The study population will be composed of public and private HEI students from the State of Rio Grande do Norte. To collect data will be applied two questionnaires simultaneously, one dedicated to the characterization of students, and another the Academic Motivation Scale (EMA) proposed by Guimarães and Bzuneck (2008) and Sobral, (2013). The instrument is composed of 29 items, contemplating the constructs of the self-determination continuum.
