SUMMARY:

In the contemporary context, training in Accounting Sciences requires that future professionals develop competencies such as critical thinking, autonomy, and the ability to solve problems in complex situations. To this end, during undergraduate studies, the use of methodologies that promote student protagonism and break with the exclusive centrality of the traditional lecture becomes fundamental. Active methodologies, by placing the student at the center of the teaching-learning process, contribute to engagement, participation, and the meaningful construction of knowledge. However, the adoption of these strategies still faces challenges related to institutional culture, the pedagogical training of professors, and the working conditions of teachers. Based on the study by Idoiaga-Mondragón et al. (2023), the main objective of this research is to analyze the perception of Accounting Sciences professors from higher education institutions in the metropolitan region of Natal/RN regarding the use of active methodologies, identifying reasons that lead to their adoption or non-adoption, as well as benefits, limitations, and needs for institutional support. To this end, the research will be qualitative in nature, with a descriptive and comparative character, using a semi-structured questionnaire adapted from the original study, applied to professors from public and private institutions. Closed questions will be treated using descriptive statistics, while open questions will be analyzed based on the content analysis proposed by Bardin, allowing for a systematic and rigorous interpretation of the professors' statements. It is expected, therefore, to produce contributions to reflection on the training and professional development of Accounting Science professors and to the strengthening of institutional policies that encourage active methodologies in higher education.
