Socioeconomic indicators determining financial condition in Brazilian municipalities
Financial condition theory. Socioeconomic factors. Subnational governments
The continuous supply of quality public goods and services is closely related to the financial health of governments at all levels, and therefore to public administration. Therefore, identifying whether a government is in a strong or weak financial condition can potentially indicate that the basic needs of society are being or will be satisfactorily met. The objective of this research is to analyze the influence of socioeconomic indicators on the financial condition of Brazilian municipalities from 2018 to 2021. The construction of this work is based on the theory of governmental financial condition. Considering the plurality of distinct and common characteristics among Brazilian municipalities, this research is justified on the premise that subnational governments have closer and more appropriate knowledge of local resources and needs.
