This research, conducted within the Professional Master’s Program in Arts, aimed to understand the pedagogical and methodological possibilities of choral singing in lower secondary education, based on the experience carried out with a 6th-grade class at Escola Municipal Aluízio Bezerra, in Santa Cruz, RN, Brazil. The specific objectives were: (a) to investigate, in the literature, the contexts and practices of choral singing in basic education; (b) to identify the school context and the participating class; and (c) to analyze the choral singing practices developed during the process. The guiding question addressed how to enhance teacher training and implement innovative methodologies that foster the full development of students’ creative expression, thus promoting an enriching educational environment for musical and artistic practice. The study followed a qualitative approach, guided by the principles of action research, which enabled both the investigation and reflective, collaborative intervention through pedagogical practices of choral singing planned and applied with the participating class. Data were collected through field diaries, audio and video recordings, and reflective reports. The results indicate that choral singing, when combined with innovative pedagogical strategies and sensitive teacher training, can be a powerful resource for students’ socialization, interaction, and holistic development, expanding artistic experiences in schools and contributing to more participatory, affective, and humanizing educational practices. The experience at Escola Municipal Aluízio Bezerra thus serves as an inspiring reference for other initiatives in the fields of art, teacher education, and educational public policies.
